A warm welcome to Preston Markets, Lancashire's best markets, not simply our opinion, but that of an independent panel of judges that visited markets throughout the country.
The markets at Preston consist of the indoor market hall, the splendid outdoor market, the ever popular car boot market and the annual pleasure fair and pot fairs. Now that we have got your taste buds watering, read on....

Market Hall
The indoor market operates on two floors, is linked to the open market and has escalators, lifts and walkways. The lower floor of the market hall is dedicated to food and comprises of 75 stalls and shops selling fresh fruit and vegetables (much of which is produced locally), meat, fish, health foods, sweets, cooked meats, bread and confectionery and traditional Lancashire foods such as black puddings and tripe. We even have a stall specialising in more exotic fruit, vegetables and spices and an excellent Polish delicatessen, plus much, much more.
The upper floor of the indoor market is dedicated to non-food items with the exception of a first class café situated overlooking the Open market. There are 60 stalls selling an amazing variety of goods and services including haberdashery, childrenswear, jewellery, material, handbags, luggage, sportswear, home brew kits, household goods, coats, hair fashion accessories, cosmetics, cards, underwear and nightwear and much, much more.

Open Market
4 days a week the splendid Victorian canopy next to the Market Hall comes to life with a traditional open market. Over 140 stalls can be accommodated in this central location right in the heart of Preston Town Centre. The Market is full of character, colour and charm but perhaps of more importance, excellent goods, quality service, bargains and more. Each stall is designed to entice the shoppers and the browsers, or simply those walking through the town. Again the market is particularly ideal for the disabled, with special parking bays surrounding the market.

Car Boot/ Flea Market
Every Tuesday and Thursday the Victorian open market site is transformed into one of the region's largest and most popular car boot and flea markets. With over 160 stalls and car boot spaces, the atmosphere is simply magic. Crowds flock to the market searching for that bargain hidden amongst the thousands of items being sold. If you love browsing and searching for valuables, collectibles or even toys to keep the kids happy, then this is the market for you.

Tues and Thurs 8.00am until 3.00pm

Pleasure Fair
Whitsuntide (Spring Bank Holiday) and what a transformation! Over the bank holiday weekend the Market site and the historic Flag market site fills with the music, colour, laughter and screams of a fabulous Pleasure fair. From the Big wheel to the waltzers and dodgems and the fast, stomach churning thrill rides, the fair takes over the market site. Crowds by the thousands flock into the town centre to visit and enjoy one of the few remaining town centre fun fairs. The candy floss, burgers and popcorn all add to the fun of Preston's gigantic fun fair.

Pot Fair
August Bank Holiday is the time and the Flag market is the place for the famous Lancashire Pot Fair. This annual event is one of the few remaining in the country. Traders from far and wide arrive in Preston to sell their pottery, china and ancillary items. The wit and banter and the juggling skills of the Pot fair traders and the incredible prices entertain the crowds for hours.
