Celebrate with the Re-launch of Boscombe Open Air Market

 Boscombe Market is a vital part of the Bournemouth street scene and has been since the early 1990’s.  This flourishing local open-air market is held year round every Thursday and Saturday, between 9am and 5pm, and is known throughout the area as the place for bargains with local character, great choice and value. 

  As a major suburb of Bournemouth and the second largest shopping area serving a population of 150,000, Boscombe is situated on the coast with it’s own pier, beautiful gardens and flourishing local tourism industry. 

The market is adjacent to the undercover Sovereign Shopping Centre, which has recently undergone a multi million pound refurbishment, and has a Shopmobility scheme, good transport links (served by 10 local bus routes) and good and plentiful local parking.  It’s a thriving, bustling, ethnically diverse area, which is highlighted as one of the south’s up and coming regions.

Recently the council have taken over the management of Boscombe Open Air market, and have invested heavily in improving the look and style of the market including new blue and yellow canopies, purchased from Dorset Canopies.  The market is very diverse and includes fresh local produce, household goods, gifts, crafts and clothing.

 “The market has a friendly, welcoming atmosphere, with loyal traders and regular customers.” said Rod Wilson, Boscombe Market Manager.  “We have an excellent base of traders but in order to extend the variety of goods available we are seeking enquiries from new traders and would love to hear from anyone who can bring some entertainment to the market”

 “We are delighted with the way Boscombe has improved over the past few years, and the market is at the heart of Boscombe’s improved fortunes,” said Carol Butler, Urban Centre Manager for Boscombe and Springbourne.  “Footfall has increased by up to 30% this summer, but we are not complacent, we are determined to attract more visitors to the Market and are currently negotiating with tour operators and hoteliers to put Boscombe on their itineraries”

 Regular promotions, marketing and advertising campaigns run throughout the year, with traders enjoying holiday periods, loyalty bonuses and off season incentives and free parking in a local car park.
